Serials in Australian Libraries (SIAL), produced by the National Library of Australia, Canberra, is a bibliographic database listing the locations of 663,000+ serials held in Australian libraries.
Subject coverage includes serials in all subject areas held by Australian libraries. To be included, a serial must be held by at least one Australian library and be catalogued on the National Bibliographic Database (NBD), managed by the Resource Sharing Division, National Library of Australia.
Serial holdings listed in Serials in Australian Libraries (SIAL) include all state and territory libraries, most university libraries, the libraries of most federal and many state government departments, as well as many TAFE and public libraries. All subject areas are covered, as well as a wide range of languages and countries of publication.
The companion database, the Australian Interlibrary Resource Sharing Directory (ILRS), is the primary source of information on interlibrary loan and document delivery services in Australia. The main sequence of the ILRS Directory is arranged by NUC symbol, as displayed in the holdings statement of records in Serials in Australian Libraries (SIAL). Each entry within the Directory includes the name, NUC symbol, address and contact details for the interlibrary lending or document delivery service.
