Essential Information for Partners (Content)

Submitting content for Informit Collections

Content for inclusion in Informit Collections databases should be submitted to RMIT Publishing as soon as your files are ready. For example, if you are sending files to print, please send them to RMIT Publishing at the same time so that we can begin preparing the files for Informit as quickly as possible. From receipt of files to delivery onto the live server takes approximately six weeks. This includes the production and testing of bibliographic and abstract data. A Content Production Diagram can be downloaded from the toolbar (right).

Delays to content or changes in frequency? Let us know.

If there is a change to the frequency of your publication or if there will be a delay to your file submission for any reason, please do let us know so that we can adjust our schedules and keep Informit users informed. Check we have the updated frequency information on our website here and do contact us if this requires updating.

File format requirements

Please supply content for Informit Collections as PDF files as follows:

  • » Use a single page layout. This means that when scrolling, only one page can be viewed at a time.
  • » Ensure that security settings are ¬not applied as we do require modification rights for our indexing processes
  • » Submitting the entire publication is required and can be supplied either as single or multiple files
  • » PDFs that have been created directly from electronic layout software (i.e. InDesign, Quark, MS word etc.) are preferred due to their superior quality. However we do also accept hard copy scans when no alternative is available. Hard copy scans will undergo Optical Character Recognition processes to make them compatible with online searching.
  • » A range of output sizes are accepted, therefore it is not necessary to change your page viewing sizes to A4.
  • » Create your PDFs using the settings listed in our PDF Specifications document.
Please note: We are unable to accept files that do not follow the above specifications. If files are sent incorrectly, we will kindly ask that they are corrected before resending.
