Setting up Access

Access to Informit content is provided via a dedicated Informit Search interface. Content can also be accessed via library catalogues, Google Scholar, federated search services and discovery services including Trove (National Library of Australia), WorldCat Local (OCLC), Primo (Ex Libris), Summon (Serials Solutions) and EBSCO Discovery Services.

Access & authentication options

All new subscribers will receive an email containing a username and password from our Customer Support team.

  • » Username and Password
          Go to: http://search.informit.com.au
          Users must type their username and password in the boxes provided and click on Login.
  • » IP Authentication
          Provide your IP address ranges to RMIT Publishing to enter into Informit Admin.
          Go to: http://search.informit.com.au
          Users will automatically be logged into Informit; as long as your computer's IP address is part of the range provided.
  • » Referring URL Authentication
          Provide a referring URL to RMIT Publishing to enter into Informit Admin.
          Link to: http://search.informit.com.au from that referring URL.
          Users will automatically be logged into Informit; as long as they link from the referring page provided.
          You must provide the authentication for users to access the referring page in question.
          This URL should not be publicly available on the internet
          Please Note: A secure http connection (i.e. https) will not work with referring URLs
  • » Embedded Username and Password
          Link to: http://search.informit.com.au/databases;username=XXXXX;password=YYYYY
          Where XXXXX and YYYYY are the Informit username and password for your organisation.
          Users will automatically be logged into Informit.
  • » Barcode Authentication
          Barcode authentication allows remote users of small libraries to access Informit by using their library card barcode or member number details.
          Provide RMIT Publishing your barcode ranges which are unique to your organisation.
          You can link to any Informit Search page from your webpage as long as it ends with barcode=true;org=XXXXX

      Some examples are:
      http://search.informit.com.au/databases;barcode=true;org=XXXXX
      http://search.informit.com.au/search;barcode=true;org=XXXXX;res=apaft
      Where XXXXX is the Informit username for your organisation.

      Users will be logged into Informit; as long as the barcode entered is valid.

 

Informit Admin - usage reporting and customization

Informit Admin lists your organisation’s current subscriptions and expiry dates, provides access to usage statistics and lets you customize display settings, pay-per-view settings and more. Read more about Informit Admin

Access to Informit Admin is via Username, Password and a PIN Code. If you need a reminder of these details simply contact our Customer Support Team.
