Informit is pleased to invite all of our subscribers to the Informit Training Roadshow 2008!

The Informit Training Roadshow is free of charge for all subscribers.

** Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Northern Territory have now been completed. Remaining cities include Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania**

Mode of training

The training is interactive combining live product demonstrations with practical hands-on exercises for the trainee. While the sessions are structured they are flexible enough to cater to individual requirements and needs. Informal questions and comments are encouraged. Each trainee will have live product access via a PC.

Duration of the session

Sessions run for 120 minutes with a 10 minute break. There is time after each session for individual queries to be addressed.

Who is it for?

Librarians, knowledge mangers, library managers and other researchers within the library community. More generally the sessions are designed around working users of Informit products who require product and interface knowledge.

Objectives of training

By the end of the training session you will know:

  • the breadth of Informit products
  • the differences between the major products groups
  • how to find out information for a particular product
  • the contents of specific database of interest

By the end of the training session you will have experience:

  • in using the Informit interface to search and browse a variety of Informit databases
  • in using tools to focus queries and guide searching
  • re-using past searchers to discover new information
  • customising the interface to better suit your needs

Benefits of training

  • Trainees will be have a good overview of Informit products and detailed knowledge of databases of specific interest.
  • It is an opportunity to practice newly learnt techniques immediately in the presence of an expert instructor.

Support Material

Trainees will be provided with relevant handouts and exercises as well as details of support materials available online. Writing materials will be provided.

Instructor Profile

Laki Sideris is the Product Development Manager at RMIT Publishing. He has been involved with the development of Informit products and services for many years. He also runs the Electronic Publishing course at RMIT University .

The training sessions offer an opportunity to get answers to some of those tricky questions about Informit products and services.

Please note: Due to space and limitation we will only permit 3 staff per session from the same organisation/institution.
